Vintages 1999 – Present
The character of each vintage in Mendoza, from 1999 to the present, is largely influenced by two key climatic conditions: the Winkler Index (a measure of heat accumulation over a growing season) and total precipitation. These factors create a spectrum of styles in the finished wines:
Cooler vintages
Generally exhibit more finesse and elegance.
warmer vintages
Tend to show more power, characterized by greater tannic concentration, viscosity, and structure.
humid vintages
Often produce wines with a more floral aromatic profile, with notes of violets and blue flowers.
dry vintages
Typically result in wines that are more fruit-dominant, featuring flavors of strawberry, cherry, and raspberry.
